Revamped Elephant Candle Holder

Fall in Alabama means one thing... FOOTBALL SEASON IS FINALLY HERE! You will probably begin to see a theme in several of my posts. This time of year I'm always on the lookout for ways to incorporate more elephants into my decor. This project was super easy and took about 2 minutes but hey, sometimes my favorite projects are the ones that take the least amount of work.

A while back, my mom gave me a set of candle holders that she found at a local dollar store. My husband and I are both big fans of our alma mater, The University of Alabama, however I (unlike my husband) like to show my "fandom" a with a little more subtlety. I liked the general shape of the holder but the gold was a little much.

Insert spray paint.

This was really a set of 3 candle holders but I just sprayed one. Here is how it turned out!

Before: Ignore the wreath, you'll be seeing it again soon :)

After!

Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Icing

About a month ago, my sister-in-law and I had the privelage to interview for a Food Network reality series that will be based in my town. The show is called Food Court Wars and will be based on the concept that two teams will battle for a shop in a food court in a popular mall here in Huntsville. Chef Gordon Ramsey is producing and Tyler Florence is the host. We had so much fun coming up with a concept for a cute little dessert shop. Unfortunately, we didn't get chosen :( but I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Since our audition with the casting director, my husband's co-workers have been begging for desserts. Maybe one day we will get to quit our day jobs and open up our dream shop, until then, pintrest recipes it is! I found this one yesterday from Glorious Treats and tweeked it just a little by cutting down the powdered sugar in the frosting and adding a little coca-cola to the batter. They were great!
